Suzi is a recent MSc student who’s passionate about finding equitable, socially-sustainable solutions to the linked climate and biodiversity crises.

I recently completed an MSc in Prosperity, People and Planet (PPP) at UCL’s Institute for Global Prosperity, which sits within the Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment. PPP is grounded in the concepts of ecological economics and systems thinking, including the planetary boundaries framework, wellbeing economies and limits to growth. I’ve explored in-depth the governance of social-ecological systems with a focus on ecosystem services valuation, as well as scenario planning for envisioning sustainable futures and transitioning to regenerative societies. I researched and wrote my dissertation on the impact of urbanisation on insect biodiversity, examining the issue both through a global lens and a local case study, which analysed butterfly species richness in London. My dissertation will add to the growing body of work on urban ecology, in recognition of the importance of cities for wildlife as the world continues to urbanise. I’m now seeking work with an organisation dedicated to furthering strong sustainability rooted in environmental and social justice.

Experience

Digital Marketing Officer - People’s Trust for Endangered Species, London, UK

2021-2024

Sitting within the fundraising team, I created and executed the charity's digital marketing strategy in support of new donor acquisition. I owned this process end-to-end, from research and campaign ideation to writing ad copy, choosing imagery, and creating informative and engaging web pages. I ran and monitored all digital ads to attract new supporters and steward them through our user journey with appropriate email marketing and campaign updates. I also led all partnerships with corporations, small businesses and sole traders, representing the charity to outside organisations. This involved creating relevant materials to pitch to organisations, meeting and vetting prospective partners, creating and fulfilling partner agreements and providing ongoing development and support to a variety of different stakeholders. Additional responsibilities included contributing organic social content, updating web pages, researching new platforms, and exploring marketing and fundraising opportunities.

Freelance Copywriter - Agency for Good, remote (UK)

2020-2021

I wrote all website copy for Community Action Bradford and District, a voluntary sector organisation in Yorkshire, UK. With a very short brief from the client, and guided by out-of-date content, I created succinct and informative copy suitable for investors, organisations and individuals.

Writer & volunteer - weMori, remote (Japan)

2020-2021

WeMori is an environmental non-profit creating a regenerative society through reforestation. I edited their Kickstarter campaign, researched potential partners and drafted outreach text to help them scale their impact. I participated in strategy and design meetings and contributed blog posts discussing the link between deforestation and animal agriculture.

Customer Success Manager - Ad-Lib, London, UK

2020-2021

Ad-Lib is an ad-tech platform and dynamic creative solution, where I managed the Johnson & Johnson, Reckitt Benckiser and Dyson accounts. I served as the main point of contact between the agencies, client partners and technical campaign managers, and created and coordinated timelines for each project and team. This was a fast-paced role with a high volume of communications across both internal and external stakeholders, requiring strong time- and task-management skills in order to oversee the deliverables of up to 40 campaigns at a time.

General Manager - La Iguana Perdida, Lake Atitlan, Guatemala

2018-2019

After working in advertising for a few years in New York, I decided to travel a small sliver of the world and work in hostels as I traveled. A few months in, I found myself on Lake Atitlan in Guatemala, a place of unique, natural beauty. Working behind the bar, in the restaurant and at reception, I helped run the day-to-day of the hostel, checking in guests, taking orders and working in the POS system. The role included behind-the-scenes customer service and accounting, work with vendors, coordinating pay for staff, performing daily cash-outs and –ins, stock-take, managing a team of volunteers, and dealing with a wide range of client issues.

Digital Ad Campaign Management, New York, USA

2014-2018

I held various digital advertising roles in New York as a programmatic trader from 2014 to 2018 - at Optimedia, Hearst Corporation and MiQ. I worked with a wide range of clients, including Liberty Mutual Insurance, Uber, Coach, and CVS Pharmacy. Each of these roles was rooted in strategy and problem-solving. Every campaign began with a brief from the client, and each trader was tasked with finding creative solutions to hit performance goals on a set budget, through a variety of targeting tactics: contextual, behavioural, keyword, time of day, as well as with data integrations, like weather.

Reader, writer, runner.

I’m passionate about getting the most out of life while still treading lightly on our only planet. I like to cook and share delicious vegan food, visit cemetery parks, cycle down hills and walk around London’s quiet, hidden streets.
